The spring 2007 spring bear hunt will go down in the books as one of our best seasons ever! After closing the spring bear hunts in Kamchatka 4 years ago, they were re-opened again this spring. And what a hunt it was! As usual, Outdoor Adventures LLC was able to secure more tags than any other outfitter operating in Russia, and with those tags, blazed more new ground in the record books.
We took a total of 23 hunters to Kamchatka this spring and, as usual, were 100-percent successful. But, it wasn’t our usual success rate that turned heads, it was how quickly we filled these tags and how large the animals were! Many outfitters tell you the days of 10-foot bears are over. Well, for them they are, but for us here at Outdoor Adventures LLC, they just keep on and on and on. Out of the 23 bears harvested, it looks like over half will qualify for the World Record Books. You read that right! Over half of the bears taken with Outdoor Adventures LLC qualify for the record books! That’s why we have more bears in the top 20 world record books than any other company! And we aren’t slowing down!
We also had quite a variety of hunters with us again. In addition to 82-year-old Royce McNeill from Charlotte, North Carolina who shot he 3 rd brown bear, two in the past two seasons, we had the youngest hunter ever to shoot a brown bear as far as we know. That hunter was 13-year-old Noel Hilty, from Fenton, Michigan. And we had 2 couples, a husband and wife team (Rick & Amy Day) from Tyrone, Pennsylvania along with Danny Peele & his girlfriend Truesa Hopkins from Middlesex, North Carolina. Rick & Amy each shot 10-foot class bears.
McNeil’s hunt was noteworthy in that it took him 15 minutes and 34 seconds to tag his bear after leaving camp. (The 34 seconds was a joke thrown in there by the guide due to the shortness of the hunt!) It was one of our quickest hunts ever. The previous spring (2006) it took McNeill just under an hour to shoot his bear with us. He has already signed on for the 2008 spring hunt saying: ”Next year I’m going to try to make my hunt last at least 2 hours, Denny! I haven’t hunted longer than an hour with you yet. You have the best bear hunts in the world!”
Another camp of 4 hunters was filled out by 11:30 A.M. the first day! All trophy bears! In fact, out of the 23 hunters who went with us this spring, 15 were filled out the first day! Nobody hunted longer than 3 days! So what does that tell you about our bear hunting areas! That’s why we are the Number 1 trophy bear operation in the world!
Oh yeh! The 13-year-old, Noel Hilty. All he did was shoot a 10-foot class bear that will place very high in the World Record Books. One of the largest bears we took this spring. His father, Loren chipped in with a bear just under 10 foot. The fall hunts should be just as good. And next spring . . .can’t wait!
