Capracaille and Blackcock Hunt

When: April 26 - May 5, 2009

Where: North central Russia

What: Two of the world's rarest species of grouse, the Capracallie ("Siberian Turkey") the world's largest species of grouse. Also blackcock, the European version of the North American sharptail grouse.

How: For Capracallie, listen for the mating call of the male on the lek in forest, then stalk. For Blackcock, hunt from ground blind on lek site in fields, then call birds to blind.

Facilities: Motel, cabins or apartment house. Most camps will have hot & cold running water, beds, electricity and most camps have a sauna or a portable shower, meals will be prepared by staff.

Weather: Temperature will range from 30 degrees (F) in early morning to 50 degrees (F) during the day.

Type of Terrain: Flat, forested for Capracallie. Blackcock will be hunted from blinds on flat open fields.

Recommended Firepower: 12 gauge shotgun with 4 or 5 size shot shells.

Other Trophies Available For Extra Cost: A second Capracallie or Blackcock can be taken for another $300 each.

Price of Expedition Package: $4,995 which includes international air fare from Chicago, New York, Newark, etc., local transportation in Russia, food, lodging, guides, interpreters, licenses for one Capracallie and one Blackcock, tours, hotels, etc. No hidden costs.

Does Not Include: Fees for passport, visa (we will help you get visa once you obtain a passport), souvenirs, any taxidermy or trophy related fees in U.S., and other personal items.

Deposit: A deposit of $1,500 is required to book hunt. Balance is due one month before departure.

Trophies: Will be skinned, fleshed and salted.
