Fly Fishing Trip to Zhupanova River

When:  July 28 - August 4, 2006
(Tentative - Depends on summer airline schedules which are not set until January - dates could change by couple of days depending upon schedule.)


Where:
The Zhupanova River in Kamchatka, Russia (Right Across Bering Sea from Alaska.)
What: Trophy Rainbow which average between 20 and 25 inches, Arctic Char, some Sockeye and Humpback Salmon. (Steelhead fishing trips can also be arranged.)

How:
Fly Fishing - Catch and release - some fish for eating. Previous groups have caught over 100 fish per day!!

Facilities:
We will be staying in a beautiful modern Lodge built in the early 1990s. Comes complete with hot and cold running water, showers, flush toilets, beds, heat, meals cooked and provided, etc.

Weather: Beautiful weather with temperatures ranging from lows in the 40's and 50's during the night to anywhere from 60 to 80 during the daytime.

Recommended Tackle:
Ideal for most fishing conditions is a 7-8 weight fly rod. For dry flies take along a 3-5 weight fly rod. Weight forward floating and 10 foot sink-tip fly lines are ideal. Top flies include anything that looks like a caddis. Any large fry fly pattern will work on the rainbows, along with sub-surface streamers like string leechs, weighted sculpin flies, and the "Mouse". The char will inhale elk hair flies.

Other Gear to take:
Waders with felt soles, fly fishing vest, wading staff, camera, lots of film, polarized sunglasses, sun block, etc. are also good things to take along.

Cost:
Includes all local transportation in Russia, food, lodging in camp, guides, bear license, trophy fees, interpreters, skinning and salting of hide. A deposit of $1,500 is required to reserve a spot on the hunt. Please contact us for current price list.

Does Not Include:
Personal items such as fees for passports, visa (we will help you get your visa once you obtain a passport) tips, souvenirs, transportation to Russia or the Ukraine, hotels and meals in town, U.S. Fish & Wildlife fees, taxidermy fees, and other items of a personal nature.

Deposit:
A deposit of $1,500 is required to hold spot in camp and lock in this years' trip cost.
